Project Summary
softreboot is the conceptual solo project of Sergei Orlov, built around fading memories, emotional distance, and the strange loneliness of living among machines, screens, and signals. The project lives where human feeling meets digital decay.
Its roots trace back to synthesizers, NES soundtracks, cassette-era intensity, late-night MTV, and records that made atmosphere feel as important as melody. From Scooter to Linkin Park, from The Cure to ivri's retro-digital textures, those influences shaped the emotional and sonic language behind softreboot.
For years, music-making remained something distant, while the impulse to build a personal world through sound stayed intact. softreboot became the form that finally brought those ideas into focus: a project where Sergei shapes the concept, visual direction, emotional arc, and overall musical direction, while AI helps explore sound, atmosphere, arrangement, and form.
AI is not the point of the project and not a substitute for authorship. It is part of the process that made it possible to build atmospheric, emotionally driven songs around a clear human point of view.
